Canadian artist Kristina Banera from Lockport, Manitoba – living in Winnipeg – received her Bachelor of Fine Art honours degree at the University of Manitoba. Her work in sculpture, installation, photography, video and collage explores ideas and psychologies of spaces, dually physical and metaphysical, while examining the relationships that inhabit these spaces. Important to this investigation is the effect that time and distance have on relationships and ourselves, resulting in complex associations. Her interdisciplinary practice uses digital media as a tool to articulate and aestheticize voids, time and distance through the representation of memory. She has exhibited nationally in galleries, artist run centres and alternative spaces.
